All to often a new mobile phone release is a similar specification device to other models, with perhaps a catchy new feature or a slightly different look. The new LG Optimus 2X is a different breed however, a handset that breaks boundaries and pushes the limits. The result is the first dual core mobile phone, and one capable of full HD 1080P video recording as well.
The key point about this latest model is its overall speed. This obviously affects all areas of the phone, and ultimately determines with the general user experience is good or not. Thanks to dual core technology, this is the fastest model you are likely to find. Present in laptops and computers for a while now, the technology has filtered down to mobile phones, meaning two individual chips are present rather than just one, meaning they can handle tasks totally independently of one another, consequently not affecting performance of the phone. The 1 Ghz Nvidia Tegra 2 chip has been used before in Toshiba tablet devices. Maintaining this high specification, the Optimus 2X also incorporate a powerful graphics chip, enabling it to support movies shot in 1080P HD. Thanks to a new system known as HDMI mirroring, the device can stream content to a DNLA compatible TV without any wires. This is impressive as footage of this resolution is rarely streamed without major compression resulting in loss of picture quality. The model can accept all manner of video file formats including MP4 and WMV, and thanks to its Dolby mobile sound enhancement it is as good a phone as you will find for using as a Movie player. Storage wise the model is supplied with 8GB of internal capacity, with the option to extend this up to 32GB thanks to a micro SD card slot.
The LG Optimus 2X is shipped with version 2.2 of the Android operating system. With 2.3 actually released now, this may disappoint many users however the system is easily upgradable. The multiple homescreen layout looks superb on the high resolution screen, which gives a 480 x 800 quality with up to 16 million colours. As a music player the handset performs admirably. A wide range of music file formats can be accepted which include MP3, WMA and eAAC+, and the 3.5mm headphone jack socket means a wide range of headphones can be used to enjoy your audio files. The device also includes Dolby mobile sound enhancement to further improve the audio playback. The phone features an 8 mega pixel main camera and a 1.3 mega pixel front facing unit, making this a versatile multi media unit as well as a superb phone in general.
